Hime, it's Nel. I'm just checking to see how you've been adjusting to Luceti. Did the experiment cause you any problems?

This might be kind of an odd question, but if anyone cares to answer I'd like to hear it.

Back where you come from, who was the highest authority? Did you trust them? Or were you against them? Or maybe something in between?

The country was divided. One part liked his leadership and the other was against him.

That sounds somewhat similar to my situation back home. Though the side for the ruler was most definitely winning, enough for the leader to be able to begin another war against... I suppose you could call it something like a rival country.

I see. Nothing like that really happened in the country I came from, but the group that opposed the ruler was mainly his own army and comrades. ...They did not believe he was human enough.

That... wasn't really a problem where I come from. Not being human I mean.

What was your problem then?

There were two high authorities. They fought against one another, though they were friends at one time.

I trusted the Creator more than I ever trusted Clu.

But they both failed us.

I suppose you could call it instinct versus reason.

So they separated, and their followers split between groups that followed each of them?

Well. For me, the highest authority back home was technically the Overlord.

And I was definitely against him considering he cursed the whole world.

That certainly sounds like an abuse of power. Did you plan to dethrone him and put someone else up?

Not really. Veldime didn't have a ruler before he came along and proclaimed himself Overlord. Though I guess if we were to do that, power would probably pass to... [He hesitates.] The princess, but thankfully she's a lot better of a person than the Overlord was.

Still, I don't think that's a job she really wants.

Anyway, I overthrew him to break the curse. I didn't really have any aspirations to see someone put in there. Politics really aren't my thing.

There's a lot of high authorities to consider when you talk about where I come from, actually. "Officially," that might be Ishihara-san?

No. Clu overthrew the Creator, sent him into exile.

Those who followed the Creator were eraticated or went into hiding as well.

In my world, the government is really mean. They let the nobles get away with anything they want.

[Her voice gets quieter, weaker:]

Ah, Val. A friend of mine from home came here a few weeks ago, and that got me thinking of things back there.
